The Escape SE Hybrid comes standard with a 2.5L iVCT Atkinson-Cycle I-4 engine that features an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT) and a 96 kW electric motor. The lithium-ion battery is liquidly cooled and placed under the floor of the second-row seats and is one-third the size of first-generation Escape Hybrid batteries. It generates power outputs of up to 165 horsepower, 155 lb-ft of torque, a total system horsepower of 200, and when properly equipped, a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 pounds.
