When you want to experience a classic American vehicle in a whole new way, then look to the 2022 Ford Mustang. At Ira Ford Saco, we’ve written up a thorough review of the 2022 Mustang, giving you the highlights of how it’ll make your driving life better. We look forward to our wide customer base across Saco, Portland, and Scarborough, ME, learning more about this fantastic ride.
The base model of the 2022 Mustang comes equipped with a 2.3L GTDI I-4 engine that comes with a standard 6-speed manual transmission. A 10-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission with paddle shifters is available as an option, which does have an impact on the Mustang’s fuel efficiency. The power outputs this engine can produce are 310 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.
There is also the Selectable Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS) feature that gives you the opportunity for steering control that fits both your mood and the needs of the road. The first setting is Comfort, which offers the lowest amount of steering effort and is great for everyday driving. Next is Normal, a mid-way effort that allows you to engage more, but still provides a level of steering ease. Finally, Sport demands an increased steering effort that delivers a more immediate connection to the road.
Overall, the fuel economy of the 2022 Mustang is solid. What affects it is the choice of transmission. With the standard 6-speed manual transmission, the Mustang gets an EPA-estimated 21 city/30 highway/24 combined MPG. The manual transmission ratings are great for a sport-minded vehicle, but they do get a bit of an upgrade when the 10-speed automatic transmission is chosen. With that, the Mustang gets an EPA-estimated 21 city/32 highway/25 combined MPG.
Since both transmissions share the same city rating, it’d be a smart call to say you’ll have a breeze through the daily commute, especially with all the glances and admiration you’ll get in this stylish model. The major difference, though, is the highway rating. The automatic transmission is the preferable choice if you plan to take your Mustang on long road trips or burn some rubber at the track.
