Ford Bronco vs. Honda Ridgeline

Ford Bronco

We know what you’re thinking: it’s time for a new car. You want something new and exciting this time around. You want a vehicle that helps you get around to the untraveled places of Saco, Portland, and Scarborough, Maine. You want a vehicle that gives you an experience like no other.

Our team at Ira Ford Saco has two models in mind: the 2022 Ford Bronco and the 2022 Honda Ridgeline. While different body styles, these vehicles are made for adventure. Which is right for you? Find out in the Ford Bronco vs. Honda Ridgeline comparison below.

Bronco vs. Ridgeline: Design

Ford BroncoLet’s get the obvious out of the way. The Ford Bronco is an SUV while the Honda Ridgeline is a truck. Despite this, they are worthy competitors.

Starting with the Ridgeline, this model is a typical truck with four doors and a cargo bed. While it does have an available 1-touch power moonroof, it doesn’t compete with the open-air experience you get with the Bronco.

Speaking of the Bronco, this model is available as a 2-door or a 4-door SUV. Plus, every Bronco trim comes with frameless doors that can be removed by one person! Add your pick of a soft top or a hard top, which you can remove too. You’ll really get to experience the elements in the Bronco.

The Ford proves to be the more customizable option once again with its eight available trim levels: Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, Wildtrak, Everglades, and Raptor. On the other hand, the Honda has just four trim levels—Sport, RTL, RTL-E, and Black Edition.

Ford Bronco vs. Honda Ridgeline: Performance

Ford BroncoWith three available engines in the Bronco, you can satisfy the performance you crave. In comparison, the Ridgeline has just one engine available. How do their standard engines match? Let’s discuss.

When using premium fuel, the Bronco’s standard 2.3L EcoBoost® I-4 engine generates up to 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. The Ridgeline features a standard 3.5L V6 engine that is capable of 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. With more standard horsepower and torque, expect to have your breath taken away in the Ford.

Alongside power, the Bronco was built for the wild. Seriously, it has several standard and available features that protect you on tough turf. Take standard 4-wheel drive with Part-Time Selectable Engagement, for instance!

While the Honda isn’t afraid to get a little dirty, it only has an all-wheel drive system, which may not offer enough stability for your intended wild adventures.

Bronco vs. Ridgeline: Capability

Ford BroncoAs briefly mentioned, the Ford Bronco was made for the great outdoors. With a standard Terrain Management System™ with five or available seven G.O.A.T.™ modes, this model can topple all types of trails. On top of typical drive modes, like Sport, Eco, and Normal, this drive mode select system also includes:

  • Slippery
  • Sand
  • Mud/Ruts
  • Rock Crawl
  • Baja

Thanks to the Honda’s Intelligent Traction Management system with Snow/Sand/Mud modes, both the Bronco and the Ridgeline will perform well when driving through inclement weather, driving onto the beach, or driving through a muddy patch. However, in more complex scenarios, the Bronco really shines.

Ford Bronco vs. Honda Ridgeline: The Winner

If you’re looking for an exciting ride, the 2022 Ford Bronco or the 2022 Honda Ridgeline will deliver. However, the variability, the greater performance, and the off-road prowess of the Bronco make it the overall winner.
